Challenge
The symbolic balance of the paintings had to remain legible across two very different ultra-wide displays.
My part
- Planned and directed the transition from Chaekgado to Irworobongdo
- Designed both environments, cameras, and lighting in Unreal Engine 5.7
- Made the shelf objects with Meshy AI, Maya, and Substance Painter
- Composited day and night EXR renders with waterfall footage in Nuke, adding mist and color corrections
- Finished the piece in After Effects and delivered two venue-specific aspect ratios
Making the film

Separate day and night renders
I rendered the same landscape with separate day and night lighting. Masks in Nuke combine the two EXR images so the sun and moon share one scene.

- Nuke
- EXR

Compositing waterfalls and mist
I keyed the waterfalls from their black background, placed them in the landscape, and added mist near the water. I then adjusted the day–night boundary and overall brightness to finish the composite.

Reframing for each exhibition space
For the different H.art1 and Gate DS screens, I kept the doorway centered and adjusted the balance of the shelves on either side.
Result
Selected for the DMAF 2026 exhibition and shown in two versions, one for each screen at Gate DS and H.art1.
I kept the sun, moon, five peaks, and water centered, then made separate Gate DS and H.art1 outputs for their different screen ratios.
